Likened to R.E.M, Doves and the Editors in the local press, Cedar have been making indie rock 'n' roll since the summer of 2002. A very British sounding band, the Watford based foursome absorb the artists they look up to and write songs that ooze positivity, energy and soul.

Obligatory quiet band member and head of caution control, Ian Bach's sultry bass noodlings add an element of ease and calm into the sometimes-frantic Cedar songs. His cool-head and ear for counter melody have ignited the band's songwriting capacity. James Harris drums like a man in a hurry. With no need for space and time he crashes through the loud and floats through the quiet effortlessly kicking each tune along and providing a real dynamic into the group. Paul Weller-esque singer/songwriter and older brother Matt Churchill, fronts the quartet harnessing the drive and energy that the music conveys. Younger brother Ross is the spark to Matt's flame; also contributing songs to the band, he takes the raw songs that Matt gives him, turning them into Pollock-like artefacts that twist and turn at every musical sinew. An artist on the fretboard as well as in the studio, Ross seeks perfection, leaving no tweak untwisted, trying to take each song to its maximum potential.

Comfortable acoustically and explosive through amps, Cedar make progress with each new song they write. With a growing confidence in their own ability to make songs that people will actually pay good money to listen to, Cedar push the boundaries of their genre, dragging elements of angular indie and plush rock 'n' roll together in a fusion of foot stamping authority.

"Huge choruses and heavy guitars" Watford Observer August 17 2006

"Up and coming Watford band, who are reminiscent of Embrace, R.E.M and Doves. Broken Town is a passionate melodic indie tune that you can quite easily imagine being played to a festival crowd." Talk Of The Town - Edition 5, Broken Town review

"It's really good to hear a young band trying to do something other than Libertinesque garage rock." Talk Of The Town - Edition 5, Parade review

"Next on stage were the youthful and exuberant local band Cedar. They bounced their way through a number of well written guitar based songs and moved a number of the audience to their feet to dance for the first time in the day." Watford Observer, Friday 21st December

"Watford favourites...with powerful indie anthems" Talk Of The Town, February
